Freedom Meal — Event

On a Dutch Liberation Day, Brutus hosted a Freedom Meal, a unique gathering around the table to reflect on the meaning of freedom.

My key responsibilities were:

• Programming:

  • Welcome Speech with Brutus Director and a Guest Speaker

  • Screening of a short film Love is the Message, the Message is Death (2016) by Arthur Jafa

  • Lunch — soup provided by Vrijheidsmaaltijden

  • Discussion mediated by Guest Speaker

  • Live music by a local musician

• Budgeting

• Researching local communities, interested in attending

• Researching local musicians and hosts

• Contacting and hiring the Guest Speaker and Musician

• Preparing the space for the event

• Documenting the event

• Overlooking the whole process, making sure equipment works, and the attendees are satisfied
